Aperol Spritz, anyone?
My favorite drink of the summer.. The Aperol Spritz. 🍊
The first time my lips touched a spritz was back in 2013 while backpacking Europe with my dear friend Carrie. It was a hot day in Venice, Italy, and we found ourselves at a little bistro. “Aperol Spritz, 1 Euro” the sign said. & our friends Ben and Sam were already raving about them. They came with an orange slice and some olives and complimentary crisp salty potato chips. I mean, cmon! I’ve been hooked ever since.
The Aperol Spritz is an Italian cocktail that is light and refreshing with an aromatic, citrusy taste. The zesty, bittersweet orange flavor with herbal and woody notes from the Aperol is perfectly complemented by the subtle sweetness and delicate bubbles of Prosecco. It’s just so delicious.
Here is how I prefer mine:
Fill a wine glass with ice, a lot of ice. Add
2 oz Aperol
2 oz Prosecco
1 oz of soda water
Top with a slice of orange and at least three olives ;) (or, whatever you like)
Have a lil potato chip snack along side this tasty drink, as a lil treat. Salute!
